In 1979 I was invited to be the visiting composer at the Eastern Trombone Workshop at Towson State University. I was asked to write a work to be premiered there, and the result was Introduction and Allegro.
The opening is maestoso with large chords and double-dotted rhythms in the manner of a French overture. The fast section which follows in several sections in different tempos, ending with a romping 3/8.
